Things To Remember When Travelling To The US

The United States is one of the most popular travel destinations there is, as each year millions of people flock to travel and tour the US. We are quite use to America’s culture after appreciating all of their TV, music, movies and games that they provide. When it comes to visiting and travelling to the US it can be slightly different to what we’ve seen on their films and TV shows, here is a few things to remember when travelling to the US.

The US Is Big

The US is massive compared to some countries in Europe, it totals to 3.8 million square miles big. America is so big that it would take over an hour just to fly from NYC to LA. The US has fifty states, and in some cases, some Americans have never even left the US. Each state has its own culture, traditions, politics and even laws.

The US is very hot when it comes to security, when you are travelling to America to ensure all runs smooth don’t forget to apply for a visa. If you are visiting the US for 90 days or less you will need a visa, an ESTA enables you entry. The is fairly straightforward and can be done quickly just make sure you apply for one before you travel so you are all prepared. Another thing to take in to consideration when travelling to the US is that you must be in possession of a passport that is valid for more than six months. If your passport is due to run out before you go away, unfortunately you will have to renew it.

Be Weather Prepared

As the US is such a massive place, weather can vary massively across America. As a general rule summers are increasingly very hot and humid. If you are going to be travelling to the US in the summer be sure to protect yourself against the sun with plenty of sunscreen. As temperatures in the summer can soar during midday it is best to stay in the shade. Compared to summers, the majority of US winters are the complete opposite as they often experience heavy snow falls. Always check out the climate of the state before you visit at least that way you will know what to expect and what to pack.

Get Ready To Supersize

America is known for their food, especially when it comes to supersizing. In America there are so many top rated restaurants, especially in San Francisco and New York. San Francisco and New York regularly show up on the top lists for the best restaurants in the world. If you are looking for food places that are gentler on your budget you can find many places that do the best street food and fast food and in most cases you will be able to supersize. But be aware that when you order food it will already be a much bigger portion then you are use too. As well as supersizing your meal, Americans are known for being friendly and polite, they expect a much bigger tip too. Tipping is of course voluntary, but if your host has made the experience 15 to 20 per cent is about the norm in an American restaurant.
